Lower Dens "Nootropics" - 2012 LP

All of a sudden LA is a windy town.....For those of you who don't believe in global warming (first off...are you fucking kidding me???)....of course the Earth is going to deteriorate.....Everything does....Nothing stays pristine...Nothing last forever....Now come on.....that's not a sad or depressing thing...It should encourage you to grasp the present...love the one you're with......So through the LA wind I began my strut to work....The cool wind whipped my hair in my face around every turn just enough to be annoying....Then on my iPod came a haunting/feverish-hum...a dark presence was looming....Just as I began to pucker my a-hole and face my head toward the concrete airy/rhythmic/pop-glorious sOUnd came on....it was glorious......I felt divine....I understood my father.....I didn't 'need' anything...I was a marvel....Lower Dens made this happen.  Lower Dens have to be the best band in Baltimore right neoooow (sorry A.Co) and on every music radar of 2012...

Oh my god....what have I done??....The vile, raucous, perverted, ghost writer "Billy Mackerel" is baaaaack.....and this time we gave him something really really weally good to spin....from Billy:

Alabama Shakes, "Boys and Girls" - 2012 LP -GOOOOOODDDGGGYYYYYYYYYAAAAAD! WHERE the FUCK have these guys been hiding?  I mean really…. REALLY??!!  You're telling me that I HAVEN'T heard them before?… ARE YOU SURE???????… I could have sworn I knew all the words to "I Found You"….I WAS SINGING ALONG!! Maybe that's because I've been listening to their 4 song EP… that dropped in September.. on repeat for 6 months…spreading their name to every Tom, Dick, and Harry like herpes in a hot tub (is that even possible?).  It's crazy to think that the "Shakes", nine moths ago, were everyday people like you and me (maybe not me)... working 9-5…what a way to make a liven…HELL..Brittany Howard, the insanely talented, corkscrew haired, librarian lookin lady with the incredible chops and mythical sensuousness to play guitar at the same time…making every dude's, within ear shot, dick stand up without even looking at her (if you saw her, you might go scared turtle....yikes!) was working as a gyaddddamn POSTAL WORKER!  NOW, she and the band are sellin out every show of their DEBUT tour and building a following of loyal fans that Jesus Christo himself would be jealous of….CRAZY!!!!!  Brittany Howard's being heralded as the "Black Janis"…or "White Aretha"…with balls bigger then James Brown and schmanggy that would have made Otis Redding turn gay….AND… she/they…deserve the hype!…absolutely incredible story and the truth is… it's true….it's true and it's happening right now. This album is retardedly good and could honestly earn itself a place in time next to the great soul/rock break-out albums like Big Brother and Holding Company's self titled debut….The Tender, the Moving, the Swinging Aretha Franklin…and Otis Redding's Pain in My Heart…Timeless doesn't seem like a permanent enough word.  This is a must download…wrap your ears around them…make them your own….then introduce to them your friends and family…you'll be the musical hero you've always wanted to be.  Soul-Blues-Rock that will make you wish were at middle school dance in 1966, making out with Winnie Cooper.
