Jim James "Regions of Light and Sound of God" - 2013 LP

I have a confession to make....I've had this album since November (i know, so have you).  I didn't listen to it....Why?  Well, for the most horrible/lame reason ever.  One single friend, who's a critic, told me it wasn't that great.  Rolling Stone Magazine infamously panned Led Zeppelin I in 1969.  So what do these instances have in common? Never listen to critics.....Ever.  They're absolutely useless.  Find out first hand....Jim James solo album is excellent.  A nice departure from his full-time gig with My Morning Jacket.  Plenty of great songs on this 9-track LP.

Dinosaur Feathers "Whistle Tips" - 2012 LP

For some reason I bought the new Rolling Stone Magazine.....It's their "500 Greatest Albums" edition....Well i've had it sitting next to my color palette at the studio for abOUt a month....Soooo i decided to crack 'er open today.....Sgt. Peppers #1....Pet Sounds #2....Revolver #3....Dylan....more Beatles.....Wait a minute???? white....white....white.....white.....chardonnay.....What racist cracker motherfucker wrote this list???? It's all white dudes for over 10 pages.....AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!! Trust me.....the people who wrote this list are white and haven't had to struggle too hard for much.....Oh mayan!!! Where the eff is Robert Johnson?....Muddy Waters?....Son House?....They're kinda responsible for every album on your pleated khaki colored list morons.....Don't get me wrong.....I love me a good racist joke.....(yeah i said it)....but c'mon....this list is downright an outrage.....That being said I'm glad they put The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" at #2....That American treasure of an album rarely gets the credit it deserves.....Need proof? Cut to 46 years later... their influence is stronger than ever......Dinosaur Feathers are rare....Pulling off upbeat/pop/vox wall harmonies/twee elements/non linaer songs.....is hard to do....."Whistle Tips" is one of the better pop albums i've heard in 2012.....You know your friend who has a band and you always gotta go see them live and it kinda blahs?....Dinosaur Feathers could easily be that band....but they are rad:
