My 15yr old self stretches out his left arm.  I am not making a move in a movie theater or trying to catch a football.  I am reaching for a spliff.  An Alabama green grass hog leg.  Wesley Pipes.  A left-handed cigarette.  And wait just a goddamn minute....I have a ripped flannel shirt on, shaggy hair, and I should be in school.  Dinosaur Jr. is blaring and the whiskers on my chin look like catfish barbels .  Well, Jesus H......I'm a burnout.  Happens to the best of us....but sometimes burnouts get a fire under their ass.  Kurt Vile did.  J. Mascis did.  And even I did.  Kurt Vile's new album is mature.  Blissful stoner sonic waves carrying you off on a pillow of smoke......one of the best of 2013:
