Local Natives "Hummingbird" - 2013 LP

There is a way to progress as an artist.  Take a risk.  Now, this does not mean do something "offensive" or "edgy".  The risk could be toning down.  The risk is exploration. The exploration is excavating the end product.....Putting it all out there.  The people who have done it before (i.e. influences) are there as a road map.  You can't just cherry pick techniques from other artists you dig....The end product has to be yours....your vision....your sound....you.  I remember college kids passing around early Jack White recordings.....I don't even think it was under White Stripes.....I think back to those tapes when I hear White Stripe's "De Stijl"....I remember when Tame Impala/Pond was just a 3 chord heavy'drone psych-rock band....Then BOOOOM....Innerspeaker....A masterpiece our kids will ask us about.....How did they do it? How did they make a huge leap in short time?  Lord Huron did it, Grizzly Bear did it....and now Local Natives have done it.  They all took a risk:
