Wounded Lion "IVXLCDM" - 2011 LP

Wounded Lion's "IVXLCDM" is one of the best albums I've heard in 2011......It's been a great year for new musack so that's an impressive list to make.....Wounded Lion is raw/punk/quirky/slightly experimental/fuzzed out rock....Love this album......The vox are extremely unique as well with a very 80s/Talking Heads/spoken word vibe going on.....This one is a must listen (one of LA's finest):

David Lynch "Crazy Clown Time" - 2011 LP

Okay....what the hell is going on? A new album from Tom Waits this year.....I could have been content with that alone.....Now, my other creative idol is venturing into music?....No way.....It just can't be true.....Well, get ready for this one.....David Lynch, is one of our true American living legends......When you watch a Lynch film you are encompassed by the dark, rich, weird imagery......underylying all of that imagery is an odd/vibrating/humming/soundscape that just simply takes you to another world.......It's no surprise that his new album, Crazy Clown Time, does the exact same thing:

Atlas Sound "Parallex" - 2011 LP

Well, if it's something Bradford Cox made, then I'm gonna write about it.......Atlas Sound allows Cox to be even more experimental/avant garde/ghostly/ambient than with his full-time band Deerhunter.  Parallex, like previous Atlas Sound albums, is a borderline concept album tackling themes of stardom/fame/and the struggles of a modern day indie darling:

Ben Lee "Deeper Into Dream" - 2011 LP

Okay, so I was up late.  Well, all night. Painting and leaving my mark around Los Angeles.  When I got back to the studio I put on this album.  Whoaaaa, I had no idea it was a concept album or had a running themes of 'dreams' or unconsciousness. Ben Lee usually makes pop/folkish/Aussie albums.  However, his new album has a LOT of different things going on.  Still highpop/well produced/good lyrics but incorporates synth/spoken word/and other experiemental elements to make a very rad album......also...amazing album cover by Lizzy Waronker:
