    Liars "WIXIW" - 2012 LP

Not every band gets asked to open for Radiohead. Not every band completely defies genres.  Then again, The Liars aren't 'every band'.  If you were to walk into a record store and ask what section The Liars reside.....a good clerk would just hand you 2 pills and a blindfold....They are simply uncategorizable....they are artists......Man....I spend wayyyy too much time alone to be listening to albums like this......but hot damn is this good.  The Liars are one of my personal favs from the last few years.....and as these Brooklyn hooligans get a little older their sound is maturing .......The rage is settling.....for the first time, The Liars are introducing a spacey/ambient/electro-element that reaaaaaally works.....I definitely think they learned a thing or two from York and Co but still maintained the eerie and unknown that makes up The Liars:

Crocodiles "Endless Flowers" - 2012 LP

Did your friend just buy skinny jeans and a scarf?.....Did he dye his hair black and get a ducktail?.....Does he constantly bring up the Smiths and drink espressos?...Is your friend homo?  No, your friend has turned 'emo'....It is very similar to homo but involves way more buttplay.....Really, the Crocodiles first got my attention back in 2009 with their single "I Wanna Kill" (such a rad song)....These young San Diego natives rock.....They play their emo/indie/wall'oSound/Cure influenced.....with an edge.......it's badace and makes me wanna buy pointy shoes and drive a scooter.......gf

Neil Young "Americana" - 2012 LP

I don't remember kindergarten.....Is that bad?....Honestly, my memory is so facked.....No doubt we sang "Ring Around the Rosie..." and played duck duck goose......I think I gave out too many hugs in college.....or even high school......I DO know that my kindergarten teacher later became my psychologist....in a very extremely/ironic twist of fate (that isn't a joke).....So as I prop my feet up on my kindergarten teacher's cOUch and recount my childhood (which i have little recollection).....some experiences and mammories are coming back to mind......The same thing happened to Neil Young.....Except he went even farther back in time.....He has revisited songs that were written on trains.....on back porches....Songs even Woody Guthrie wish he wrote (well, he wrote one on here).....What can you say about Neil Young at this point?....What is the next step beyond legend?.....Is he God?.....He very well could be.....I would not be the least bit surprised.....So, as Neil Young recounts americana classics such as "This Land Is Your Land" he brings back Crazy Horse and their unique blend of grunge/psychodelic/lo-fi/fuzzed out brilliance.....Neil Young invented grunge and with "Americana" he re-invents a handful of American classics.......so good:

Angus Stone "Broken Brights" - 2012 LP

Remember that first special chick in high school who broke up with you? (or dude) (sorry Beau).  Remember being crushhhhhed??....Just destroyed.....Lovesick....Or maybe you broke up with her then your buddy started getting OPHJ's from her...(over the pants hand jobs) (yeah early high school)....Where was Angus Stone then?....Where was this album?.....Well, it's years later now and I really don't remember the floozies from yester year but i'm sure I was equally devastated and made a giant ass out of myself many 'O time....I do remember 1 mix CD and a batch of roses left on a door at one point...GOD!! would I love to have that tracklist......i'm cringing.....You may recognize Angus from his fulltime band with sis Julia Stone.  The group makes British-folky/spritey/cute acoustic songs.....Apparently, Angus has been hurt too.....Angus Stone has had to take a long drive.....he's had to burn photos.....and there's a little rage in this freak-folk/Neil Young inspired/great driving album/just plain and simple good musack....It's introspective, it's light, then it rocks, then he summons Paul Simon (track 11)......fack it.....just give it a spin:
