David Phillips in Album Review 2012, Bowie, Foxygen, JagJaguwar, Kinks, Lou Reed, Mick Jagger, Rolling Stones, Stardust, Stones, Take the Kids Off Broadway, Velvets, rare

I had to look at my iPod 3 times today....They were all 3 within the first 2 minutes of this album....I did a first take, "Well this has to be a mislabeled Lou Reed or Velvet Underground album".....It wasn't.....Then I did a second take, "Wait is this a rare Stones album???"....It wasn't.....On the third I swore it was Bowie (Stardust era)....it wasn't.....The iPod read "Foxygen"....I didn't touch it for the rest of the day.....I'm rarely left speechless by albums but this one is the leviathan.....The black antelope.....The leprechaun riding the unicorn....It's the one i've been looking for.....I listened to "Take the Kids Off Broadway" for the rest of the day.......I didn't have to touch my ipod again......This one has it all baby.....and if you invest the time to give it a few spins you might just realize how rare and how amazing an album like this is......I was gonna give my usual clever/word play but I read an excerpt from JagJaguwar Records that sums it up perfectly......"They are the raw, de-Wes Andersonization of The Rolling Stones, Kinks, Velvets, Bowie, etc. that a whole mess of young people desperately need"......amazn:
